There is a simple socialist solution to the mortgage foreclosure crisis that capitalist-protecting politicians ignore:

• Mortgages facing foreclosure should be purchased by the local government.
• The local governments should modify repayment to fit within the homeowner’s budget.
• Interest earned as the mortgage holder would provide an additional revenue stream for the local government.

Local government is defined as:

1. The municipal government in urban areas; and,
2. The township government in rural settings.
